Tomadini Conservatory
The Jacopo Tomadini Conservatory of Music is a Higher Education Institution for Artistic and Musical Studies. It awards both first- and second-level academic degrees in accordance with Law 508/1999. The institution has approximately 450 students, 60% of whom are enrolled in academic programs. Its activities include teaching, musical production, and musicological and research endeavors.
The academic offerings include first-level (three-year) and second-level (two-year) diploma programs. The Conservatory organizes masterclasses with internationally renowned artists and, in the 2024/2025 academic year, will launch its doctoral research programs. Additionally, preparatory courses are available, providing the necessary skills to access academic programs, subject to an admission exam. Musical production at the Conservatory includes orchestral ensemble concerts of various formations, chamber music workshops, contemporary music
ensembles, jazz big bands, and performances by students and faculty members. Selected public performances are professionally recorded.
The Conservatory has established connections with other prestigious educational and concert institutions, facilitating concert exchanges and student and faculty mobility.
Musicological and research activities focus on in-depth exploration of historical, aesthetic, musicological, and methodological topics, including public outreach initiatives. These activities are carried out through conferences, lectures, and seminars, often in collaboration with the University of Udine and other renowned institutions, both nationally and internationally, particularly in relation to the new doctoral programs. The Conservatory collaborates with universities and educational institutions of particular significance, fostering international mobility for students and faculty. This is supported by new technologies, such as Lola (Low Latency Audio-Visual Streaming System), which enables musical activities via advanced network services. The Conservatory has also established a lutherie course, which, alongside the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, is unique in Italy.
This program allows students to learn and experiment with an ancient and fascinating craft.
