University of Udine

The University of Udine, founded by popular will in 1978, is a young and dynamic institution, strongly rooted in the territory.

Currently, the University has more than fifteen thousand students and more than six hundred faculty members.It offers 83 undergraduate courses, more than 30 master’s, postgraduate courses, summer and winter schools, 27 graduate schools, 22 PhDs (11 based in Udine, 6 of national interest, 5 collaborative), 253 classrooms, 7 libraries, 365 research and service laboratories, 83. 373 scientific publications since 1978, 118 patented technologies, 8 departments, new sustainable and energy-efficient buildings, and 4 photovoltaic systems.

The University of Udine has also 541 bilateral Erasmus and non-European mobility agreements that for the academic year 2023/2024 gave to 661 students the possibility to do outgoing mobilities.

The University of Udine is actively engaged in a wide range of research activities, including through collaboration with other national and international universities and research institutes. The development of scientific knowledge and education remain the fundamental mission of our University, which, however, also places special emphasis on the transfer of innovative technologies and knowledge within the local and national socio-economic fabric.

Collaborations

The University has mobility and project co-operation agreements (i.e. Erasmus+, Erasmus Mundus) and more than 400 partner institutions in 60 countries, among which United States of America, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Corea, South America. Every year an average of 661 students of the University study and participate in job-training abroad; over 210 international incoming students’ study and train at UniUD.
There are 755 students enrolled with foreign citizenship, 16 courses with double degree awarding, 6 degree courses in English and 541 bilateral agreements for Erasmus and extra-European mobility.
The University International Office provides up-to-date services for international students and staff in mobility abroad, in cooperation with regional, national and international organizations and partners.

Facilities for foreign students and researchers
The University of Udine offers:

  • administrative support for the enrolments;
  • provision of information on the Italian university system, the right to the University of Udine education;
  • assistance for obtaining visa and residence permits;
  • informative video tutorials;
  • housing facilities: there are some real estate agencies selected by the university that help students in finding a room or a flat or some other info about the accommodation;
  • Language courses;
  • cultural services;
  • laboratories, libraries, ICT labs and other university facilities;
  • services to support the well-being of students with a focus on services for disable students.

Furthermore, UniUD is also partner of the Welcome Office Friuli Venezia Giulia, a one-stop shop for assistance and information to international students and researchers on mobility-related issues, hosting the Welcome Office Infopoint of Udine.
